KeepNails ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what data we collect, how it is stored, and how we safeguard your information when you use the KeepNails mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

To provide a personalized and effective habit-reversal experience, we collect the following types of information:

Media (Progress Photos/Images): If you use the progress tracking feature, we request camera access to collect photos of your hands. These images are collected strictly to help you visually track your progress over time.
Media (Audio Voice Logs): If you use the voice logging feature, we request microphone access to record and transcribe your habit logs.
App Usage & Habit Data: We store your logged urges, trigger tags, completion of coping techniques, and intake assessment data.
Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication and account recovery purposes.

2. How Your Data is Stored and Secured

Local First: By default, your progress photos/images, habit data, and settings are stored locally on your device.
Secure Cloud Storage (Pro Users): If you subscribe to KeepNails Pro, your progress photos and habit data are stored securely on our cloud servers (hosted by Supabase) to allow multi-device sync and data recovery. All data transferred between your device and our cloud servers is protected using modern encryption in transit.
Absolute Privacy of Photos: Your progress photos/images are strictly private to you. They are never made public and are solely accessible via your authenticated account.
AI Processing: We use OpenAI's API to provide personalized notifications and encouraging photo captions. When utilizing these features, relevant context (such as an encrypted, temporary URL of a progress photo) is sent securely to OpenAI for immediate processing. OpenAI does not store your photos, nor do they use your data or images to train their models.

3. Permissions We Request

Camera: Solely for capturing progress photos of your hands.
Microphone: Solely for transcribing voice notes into text for urge logging. Audio is processed for transcription and is not stored long-term.
Notifications: To deliver personalized reminders and support nudges based on your trigger profile.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. Your progress photos/images and personal habit logs are never shared with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any unrelated purposes. We only share necessary technical data with essential third-party service providers (Supabase for backend infrastructure, RevenueCat for subscription management, and OpenAI for strict feature processing) solely for operating the KeepNails app.

5. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have the right to access, modify, or delete your data at any time. You can permanently delete your account—and all associated cloud-stored photos, logs, and data—directly within the KeepNails app by navigating to Settings > Account > Delete Account. Alternatively, you can request full data deletion by visiting our Support & Data Deletion Page.
